Obituary

TOPSHAM - Linwood Albert Stevens "Lin", 86, of Topsham, Maine, died on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough. Born July 23, 1939, in Topsham, the son of the late Linwood Alston and Ella Stevens. He grew up on his family's farm on Meadow Road, in Topsham. He was a farmer at heart, but after being enlisted in the Army for three years and a couple of years lobstering in Harpswell, he went to work for BIW in the pipe shop and retired after 40 plus years. Lin enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his home garden. He was very active with the VFW Post 2197 in Topsham where he and his wife enjoyed volunteering and serving quarterly Friday night dinners. Watching Bowdoin College ice hockey was his wintertime passion for all of his adult life. Family and friend gatherings were a staple and his home on Ward Road was always open for holidays and parties. His family was extremely close and enjoyed get togethers even if it wasn't for a specific event. Lin is survived by his wife Patricia of 56 years and daughter Joanne Stevens, both of Topsham; his brother Roger Stevens and wife Cha of Brunswick; his sister-in-law Joanne McGuirk and husband Robert; nephew Patrick McGuirk and wife Danielle, and their children Maeve, Keely, and Rory of Hingham, Massachusetts; and many cousins, all of whom were very dear to him. A celebration of life will be held in Topsham at a later date. Contact one of the family for details. Social media notification will also be made. In lieu of flowers, please tell people they are important to you and give them a hug. Kindness is free so spread it around!
