Greenland, NH – Lois B. Holbrook, 83, of Greenland died February 24, 2010, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a battle with the consequences of a fall in Clearwater, Florida. She was born in Milford, MA on May 3, 1926, the daughter of the late A. Sumner and Emily L. (Hammann) Coleman of Mendon, MA. She was a graduate of Mendon High School, Class of 1944. Mrs. Holbrook worked as a secretary and homemaker. She and her family resided in Melrose before living in Exeter, NH for many years. The mother of two Eagle Scouts as well as the spouse of another, Mrs. Holbrook served as a den mother for the Cub Scouts and enjoyed boating, summering at Merepoint in Brunswick, ME, as well as travel. She was able to travel with her husband throughout many states and Canada, and made several trips to Europe. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Sumner S. Holbrook, as well as two sons, Seth S. Holbrook of Melrose, MA, and Dwight C. Holbrook of Greenland, NH, as well as two nieces, Christine Rawley of Milbury, MA, and Melinda Gauthier of Sterling, MA, and a nephew, Leonard Peterson of Scituate, MA. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Bernice R. Holbrook of Brunswick, ME, and a brother-in-law, Clifford Peterson of Auburn, MA. She was predeceased by her two sisters, E. Jane Coleman of Mendon and Shirley Peterson of North Grafton, MA. Visiting hours will be held Saturday, May 1 from 9-10:30AM at Stetson's Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick, ME., where a funeral service will follow at 10:30 AM.
