Obituary

Brunswick-Lois Metzler Mundy, age 82, of Sparwell Lane, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Mid Coast Senior Health Center. She was born April 9, 1928, in Somerville, NJ, the daughter of Harold and Helen Ridge Metzler. She graduated from Somerville High School in 1946 and received her Bachelor's degree from Douglass College in New Brunswick, NJ, majoring in English with a minor in Spanish. She married David H. Mundy Sr. on March 10, 1951, and was an Airforce Mother until 1966 when she began her career as an English teacher at Indian Hills High School, Oakland, NJ, until her retirement in 1996. She and her husband enjoyed coming to Maine every summer since the mid-1960's to stay at their camp in Palermo on Sheepscot Pond. Spending time at camp was one of her most favorite activities. They moved to Brunswick in 2000. Lois was very active in many groups at First Parish Church in Brunswick. She enjoyed reading and was a long time member of the book club at the church. She is survived by her two sons, David H. Mundy Jr. of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Donald H. Mundy and his wife Denise of Westerville, OH , and one grandson, Peter S. Mundy, also of Westerville, OH. She was predeceased by her husband in 2005. A graveside committal service will be held at 10AM Tuesday, June 1, at the New Maine Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. A memorial service will follow at 1PM Tuesday, June 1, at First Parish Church, Maine St., Brunswick. Donations in her memory may be made to the Maine Center for Cancer Medicine, 81 Medical Center Drive, Brunswick, Maine 04011.
