Obituary

Brunswick- Louis R. Lebel Sr., age 78 of Hennessey Avenue, died Wednesday, February 26th at Horizon's Living and Rehab Center. He was born in Lisbon Falls on September 22, 1935, the son of Eddie Sr. and Odelie Gamache Lebel. Louis was educated in Brunswick Schools, graduating from Brunswick High School in 1955. On April 21, 1956 he married Suzanne (Sue) Lavoie. He entered the apprenticeship program as an outside machinist at Bath Iron Works after graduating from High School. He travelled to both Taiwan and Canada representing Bath Iron Works and became an Assistant Foreman. He retired after more than 40 years of service. He was also a member of the Brunswick National Guard for over 20 years. Louis loved to do carpentry especially with his friend Roger Caouette, beginning in 1957. He continued to work on projects until well after retirement. He also enjoyed playing cribbage, participating in several tournaments and took part in nightly visits to MacDonald's, where he and his friends solved the world's problems. He was also a  member of the Tophsam American Legion Post 202. Besides his wife Sue of 57 years, he is survived by 3 sons, Mark Lebel and his wife Karen of Canton, OH, Louis (Jay) Lebel Jr., of Brunswick, and Gerold and his fiancé Jennifer Bouchard of Litchfield, 2 daughters, Deanna Butcher and her husband Robert of Waterville, and Lisa Alvey and her husband Joseph of Abington, PA, 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Louise Lebel, and 3 nieces. He was predeceased by his brother, Eddie Lebel Jr., a sister, Jacqueline Dawson and her husband Bill, and a daughter-in-law, Milane Jones Lebel. Visiting hours will be held Monday, March 3rd from 2-4 and 6-8PM at Stetson's Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, March 4th at 10AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church-All Saints Parish, 132 McKeen St, Brunswick, with military honors to follow outside the church. Interment in St. John's Cemetery, Brunswick, will be held in the spring.
