Obituary

Brunswick-Louis (Louie) E. Thibeault Sr. age 84 of Turner St. died peacefully on Saturday, April 19th at the Horizon's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brunswick. He was born in Brunswick, on September 3, 1929 the son of Emile J. Thibeault and Rose Bouchard Thibeault. He attended St. John's School and was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Brunswick. Louie went to work at an early age at his family's trucking company, Thibeault's Express in Brunswick. Upon leaving Thibeault's Express, he was employed by the Town of Brunswick at the Public Works Dept. Louie was also a call man for the Brunswick Fire Dept for many years. He married Jaqueline (Jackie) O. Bernier on July 23, 1949. After Jackie's death in 1997, he married Stella Bernier of Brunswick. He was in the Army and then served in the National Guard in Brunswick, for over 35 years, from which he retired as First Sergeant at age 60. He was a lifelong member of the Brunswick Elks Club and was a past Exalted Ruler. Louie enjoyed summer vacations, when his family was young at Lake Moxie, in The Forks. After retiring, he spent many summers helping his granddaughter Kate Farnham haul her lobster traps in the West Bath area. He also enjoyed spending the winter months at his home in Florida. In addition to his first wife Jackie, Louie was also predeceased by a son Kevin R. Thibeault, his brother Emile J. Thibeault Jr., sister Lorraine Thibeault Golden, granddaughter Lindsey H. Thibeault and his second wife Stella Bernier Thibeault. Louie is survived by four sons; Louis E. Thibeault Jr. of Brunswick, Mark Thibeault and his wife Cindy of Portland, Brian Thibeault and his wife Louise of Brunswick and Tod Thibeault of Brunswick. A daughter Cheryl Farnham and her husband Bruce of West Bath. A brother Robert Thibeault and his wife Deanna of Sabattus. Also survived by six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held Sunday June 29th from 5-7PM at Stetson's Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 30th at 10AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church-All Saints Parish, 132 McKeen St., Brunswick, where a reception will follow in the church hall. Interment to follow the reception with military honors at Hillside Cemetery, Lisbon Falls. Memorial donations may be made to CHANS/Hospice at 60 Baribeau Drive Brunswick, Maine 04011. Arrangements are by Stetson's Funeral Home 12 Federal St. Brunswick where memorial condolences may be expressed and a video tribute may be viewed at stetsonsfuneralhome.com
