Topsham- Marion B. Finneran age 96, of The Highlands passed away Wednesday August 11, at Mid Coast Hospital, Brunswick. Miss Finneran was born in Eugene, Oregon and, at the time of her passing, had been a 20-year resident of The Highlands Retirement Community. Miss Finneran served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. She retired from teaching in the Illinois school system in 1978. She moved to Maine in 1979. She had been an active volunteer for the Brunswick Chapter of the American Cancer Society, chairing the Daffodil Days fund raising campaign for many years. She taught CCD classes at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Brunswick for several years. She received numerous volunteer awards and was a volunteer at the Peary- MacMillan Artic Museum. She was a past member of the Brunswick International Toastmistress Club. Miss Finneran enjoyed gardening, cats and her daily crossword puzzle. She is survived by her brother, Frank K. Finneran of Chicago, IL. Several nieces and nephews including G. C. (Bill) Finneran of Tampa, FL and Robert D. Finneran of Leesburg, FL as well as numerous grandnieces and nephews including Victoria A. Smith of Bowdoin, Nicole R. Morton of Yarmouth and great grandniece Danielle E. Smith of Bowdoin. She was predeceased by her parents, Emmett Joseph and Margaret Cole, sisters Margaret Lambert and Martha Korholz; brothers Emmett J., Granville and Robert. A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, August 24th 10 AM at St. John the Baptist Church, Pleasant Street, Brunswick. Committal prayers with military honors will be held Tuesday, August 24th at 2PM at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery Mt. Vernon Road Augusta.
