Obituary

Brunswick-Mildred "Milli" (Irvine) Jewett, 77, of Brunswick, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, February 1, 2026, with her two sons by her side. Milli was born on March 5, 1948, the daughter of Daniel and Joyce (Bartlett) Irvine. Milli graduated from Morse High School in 1967. After graduation, she married Norman L. Jewett of Bath, and together they raised two sons, Norm and Bob. Milli and Norman divorced in the late 1980s, and a few years later she found love again, settling down with her forever best friend and partner in crime, Frank Smith. Milli worked for 30 years at Bath Iron Works as a data processor, retiring at the end of 2010. In retirement, she enjoyed winter adventures in Florida with Frank and their Canadian friends. Milli was known for her laugh, kindness, and deep love for her family. She enjoyed time getting to know her youngest sibling Greg who she didn't really know growing up, time with family and crocheting afghans and stuffed animals for those she loved. She was also famously known as the "Seguin Island baby," having survived a serious accident on the lighthouse tram at just 18 months old without injury. She maintained a lifelong connection to the Seguin Island Lighthouse and loved sharing her remarkable story with the Friends of Seguin. Milli is survived by her younger sister, Miriam (Irvine) Allan of Bath; her younger brother, Greg Irvine of Massachusetts; her sons, Norman (Norm) Jewett and partner Amber Jensen of Brunswick and Robert (Bob) Jewett of Richmond; Frank's daughter, Susan Forbes of Massachusetts; and her cousin and surrogate daughter, Tammy Matthews, her husband Jeffery of Topsham, and their children, Brooke and Bode, who lovingly knew her as "Nanna." She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours celebrating Milli's life will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Stetson's Funeral Home, 12 Federal Street, Brunswick, ME.
