Topsham-Patricia A. LeDuc, age 75 of Main Street, died at Parkview Adventist Medical Center in Brunswick on Thursday, December 23rd, after courageously battling a long illness. She was born to Patrick and Bridget O'Brien in Manchester, New Hampshire on September 22, 1935. Patricia, also fondly known as Patsy, was the youngest of six children. First generation Irish American, Patricia cherished her Irish heritage, kin and home.
Patricia was raised in Manchester and Potter Place, New Hampshire. She first attended Catholic elementary schools, but later local public schools. She graduated from Andover High School in 1953. A gentle soul, Patsy had a true zest for life. In high school she enjoyed cheerleading, basketball, acting and was proud to be a "thespian." After graduating high school, she married her long time sweetheart, Arthur R. LeDuc, of Pittsfield, NH. With Arthur, who was serving in the U.S. Navy, Patricia made her home in Kittery, Maine; Brooklyn, New York; Athens, Georgia; Newport, Rhode Island; Virginia Beach, Virginia; Yokohama, Japan; Brunswick, Maine; and Topsham, Maine.
Patricia enjoyed building a warm loving home for her children and all things family. Through the years, Patricia volunteered as a Cub Scout leader, Girl Scout leader, for the Navy Officer's Wives Club, and the Tedford Shelter in Brunswick.
After her husband's retirement from the Navy, Patricia and Arthur operated LeDuc Realty, a residential real estate company with offices in Topsham and Newcastle, Maine.
Once her children were grown, Patricia enjoyed traveling with her husband, and researching her own family history and Irish culture. She was well loved by many and will be long remembered as a loving, brave soul devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Patricia was predeceased by her husband, who passed away in August. Patricia and Arthur would have celebrated their 57th Anniversary in October.
Surviving is her son Kevin and his wife Pamela LeDuc, of Topsham; son Mark and his wife Marie LeDuc, of Silver Spring, MD.; daughter Lisa A. Smith and her husband Peter Smith of Hackettstown, NJ; and daughter Gina LeDuc-Kuntz and her husband James Kuntz, of Freeport, ME. In addition, Patricia was affectionately known as "Beema" to thirteen grandchildren, and loved by many nieces and nephews.
Patricia is also survived by her sister, Grace Skoglund, of Manchester, NH and her brother Richard O'Brien, of Nashua, NH. Patricia was predeceased by her brothers Walter, Thomas, and Robert.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, December 29th from 6-8PM at Stetson's Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick. Additional visiting hours will be held Thursday, December 30 from 10AM to 12 Noon in the Chapel of St. Joseph's Cathedral, 145 Lowell St., Manchester, NH., where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 Noon in the Cathedral. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, NH.
