Obituary

Brunswick-Philip Ouellette, age 100 passed away Sunday, February 20th at Mid Coast Hospital. He was born April 20, 1910 in Brunswick, the son of Cyprien and Marie Ann Plourde Ouellette. On October 2, 1939 he married Germaine Dugal. He owned Phil's Lunch on Maine St. in Brunswick for many years, worked in construction and then at Bath Iron Works until his retirement in 1973. He loved hunting, fishing, trapping and lobstering and enjoyed all of these sports until he gave them up at the age of 80 to care for his wife, Germaine, who had been stricken with Alzheimer's Disease. She passed away on March 20, 2000. He was a Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus, Sekenger Council #1947, where he had been a member for many years. He enjoyed getting together for coffee every morning with "the Knights of the Round Table" at the KC hall. Phil was quite the story teller and had an amazing memory for details. His stories spanned back to his childhood. He is survived by 3 daughters Stella St. Laurent and husband Maurice of Lisbon, Clarice McDonald and husband John Litwinowich of MA, and Rose Jordan and husband Jerry of Wells, one son Paul Ouellette of Portland, 2 brothers Tony Ouellette and wife Aline and Omer (Tulip) Ouellette and wife Priscilla all of Topsham, 2 sisters-in law Bernadette Duagal and Sylvia Ouellette,6 grandchildren Debbie Bechard and husband Don, Jim St. Laurent and wife Linda, Duane McDonald and wife Alexia, Marty McDonald and wife Maureen, Michelle Ramos, and Scott Ouellette and wife Jennifer, 10 great-grandchildren Jerod, Brandon and Angela Bechard, Megan and Ben St. Laurent, Evan and Melina McDonald, Adriana and Kayla Ramos, and Emma McDonald and many nieces and nephews. Phil was predeceased by his wife Germaine Dugal after 60 years of marriage, 3 sisters Claire Dehetre, Simone St. Pierre, and Cecile Field, and a brother Bob Ouellette. Visiting hours will be Friday February 25th from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at Stetson's Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 26 at 11AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church-All Saints Parish, 132 McKeen St., Brunswick. Burial at St. John's Cemetery in Brunswick will occur in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in Phil's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association-Maine Chapter, 383 US Rt. 1 Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074 or to a charity of one's choice.
